London – 17 October 2026: Gulf Bridge International (GBI), owner and operator of one of the leading international telecommunications networks connecting the Arabian Gulf to the world, through its extensive subsea and terrestrial infrastructure, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EXA Infrastructure at Capacity Europe 2026, one of the telecommunications industry’s premier global events. The MoU sets out the two companies’ intention to explore opportunities for strategic cooperation that support GBI’s network growth and international expansion objectives and further reinforces GBI’s role in facilitating international connectivity between key regional and global markets.
The MoU was signed on behalf of GBI by Eng. Ahmad Mohamed AL-Kuwari, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer, and on behalf of EXA Infrastructure by Mr. Rob McCabe, Chief Commercial Officer. The signing reflects both parties’ commitment to building partnerships that advance digital infrastructure and meet the growing demand for reliable international connectivity services.
The MoU sets out a framework for the two parties to evaluate potential collaboration across connectivity, infrastructure and business development initiatives, with the aim of enhancing digital infrastructure capabilities and expanding connectivity opportunities for customers. Under this framework, the parties will examine possible cooperation models and identify areas of mutual interest. Where the parties reach consensus, the outcomes are expected to be formalised through definitive agreements.
The prospective cooperation reflects a shared commitment to fostering innovation, strengthening regional and international connectivity, and creating long-term value through mutually beneficial strategic initiatives. Signing the MoU at Capacity Europe also underscores the importance of industry collaboration in advancing global connectivity and digital infrastructure development.

The signing comes at a time of rapid growth in demand for international capacity and connectivity services, driven by the expansion of cloud services, data centres and artificial intelligence applications. This growth is increasing the importance of partnerships between infrastructure providers to deliver reliable and diverse routes that serve customers across markets.
Commenting on the occasion, Eng. Ahmad Mohamed AL-Kuwari, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer of GBI, said: “This Memorandum of Understanding is an important step in strengthening our international partnership ecosystem and supporting our long-term growth ambitions. By exploring collaboration with a respected infrastructure provider such as EXA Infrastructure, we aim to further enhance connectivity options, create new opportunities for our customers and contribute to the development of robust digital infrastructure across the regions we serve.”
Eng. AL-Kuwari added: “We are pleased to have formalised this understanding on such a prestigious international platform, which brings together the key stakeholders shaping the future of global connectivity. We look forward to this step reinforcing GBI’s position as a trusted partner in connecting the Gulf to global markets.”
Both parties confirmed that the MoU represents the first phase of a joint cooperation journey, to be taken forward through the study of available opportunities and the assessment of their technical and commercial feasibility, towards the definitive agreements required to implement the initiatives agreed upon.
