Gulf Bridge International Accelerates its Transformation with Four Key Hires

ddesign2020-10-04T06:38:28+00:00

Doha, Qatar: Gulf Bridge International (GBI), a high-performance low-latency global connectivity provider, has appointed Jim Clarke as its Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), Gavin Rea as its Chief Technical Officer (CTO), Joseph Jabakhanji as its Head of Sales, and Ergin Kilinc as Director of Enterprise Sales and Business Development. The appointments are part of a transformation strategy spearheaded by CEO Cengiz Oztelcan and continue to position GBI as a leader in digital experience and customer service.

Clarke joins GBI from Telstra where he was Director for Global Connectivity and Networks. He is responsible for the execution of both the wholesale and enterprise sales strategy and the leadership of GBI’s commercial activities. Rea joins GBI after 17 years at BT, where he was Head of Subsea Centre of Excellence. He brings a depth of experience in design, implementation, operation and maintenance of subsea cable networks to his role as CTO.

“We are building a team of world-class talent that are ready to take GBI into the future. These appointments bring new expertise and experience to our team and a proven ability to execute for customers and partners,” said Cengiz Oztelcan, CEO at GBI. “I will be working closely with the team to simplify and accelerate how we engage and serve our customer and prospects to ensure they have the best possible experience end-to-end.”

Jabakhanji joins GBI from Tata Communications where he was Director of Sales – MENA. He is a veteran of the MENA telecoms industry with a track-record of driving revenue growth and profitability. Kilinc has over two decades of industry experience with a background in business development, marketing and customer care. He has supported the business and sales efforts of Data Centre experts Radore and Canovate Group as well as Turk Telecom and Intel.

“It is an exciting time to join GBI as we push our business into the future. We have an opportunity to use GBI’s unique position in the market to serve growing demand for global Cloud, Content and next-generation Communications,” said Jim Clarke, CCO at GBI. “Cengiz and the team at GBI understand the value we can create across the entire value chain and have a unique vision for connecting and optimising global connectivity”.

The appointments will drive GBI’s global business development, sales efforts and technical developments as it expands its scope and serves growing demand from Over-the-Top (OTTs) players, Cloud Service Providers, Content Providers and Enterprises, in addition to its core carrier customers. GBI’s transformation strategy is focused on delivering an optimised experience across the entire value chain and enable customers, partners and end users to benefit from world-class infrastructure.

“GBI is an entrepreneurial business that is solving customer challenges and really cares about the entire value chain. I look forward to being part of this new era at GBI and delivering exceptional experience for our customers. We have a fantastic opportunity to support their long-term growth,” said Gavin Rea, CTO at GBI.
